Urschel Family Donates $7.5 Million to the Valparaiso YMCA
The Valparaiso Family YMCA announces a generous gift of $7.5 million from the Urschel family to build a new YMCA. The gift is in addition to the family's donation of 12 acres of land and site development work, valued at $2.5 million.
The new Valparaiso Family YMCA will be located at Cumberland Crossing, an area currently being revitalized by Vale Park Development, an Urschel family company.
The generosity of the Urschel family is just incredible, said Bob Wanek, CEO of the Valparaiso Family YMCA. We are so blessed to have a family that believes in what the Y is doing and what a new YMCA building can bring to Valparaiso.
The YMCA is such a critical part of our community's quality of life, commented Rick Urschel, Vice President of Operations at Urschel Laboratories, Inc. We had an opportunity to help the Y and felt it was our way of giving back to a community that has given us so much.
